She's Walking!

We went for a quick visit with some friends. The night we returned home, we were all unpacking, showering, and getting back into home mode. On February 3rd, 2024, at 22 1/2 months old, Evie took two unassisted, consecutive steps multiple times. She walked back and forth between me and Rob. We were SO excited! This girl has been thinking about it for months! We've watched her shift her weight to one foot, stare intently at the area in front of her, and come just shy of moving that perfect little piggy.

I cried. Rob was a little teary-eyed. Ben was smiling from ear to ear. Evie's face was so lit up and confident and happy and proud. It was a moment I was so grateful for. We were all there. We all got to see those first few steps.

I missed Ben's first steps. He was at daycare. I cried then too. A lot. His teachers were so wonderful and sent me a video, and I got to see him do it again at home that evening, but I missed those first consecutive steps.

Rob and I are in very different places professionally than we were when Ben was a baby. We are both now able to be much more present physically, emotionally, and mentally than ever before. Sometimes I feel guilty that Ben didn't get as much of that as Evie does at this age. I also recognize that he is still only 11, and we get to do so many things with him now that he'll actually remember.

Back to the point... Evie is walking!!! Her goal in physical therapy was to have two unassisted steps by age two. DONE! Way to go, my sweetest girl!
